I come from China, and received my bachelors degree in Tianjin University, China. I am majoring in chemical engineering, and I am especially interested in Energy. I had an internship in BASF, a famous chemical company from Germany. I work with Dr. Larry Baxter. I hope to work in a company on combustion or energy after graduation.
My research project is about Biomass Gasification Rates and Mechanisms. My project answer the question that how do commercially relevant biomass particles react under reducing conditions? My objectives are: 1, To determine rates and mechanisms of biomass drying, pyrolysis, and especially gasification; 2, To determine effects of particle size and shape on rates and mechanisms (no biomass particle is spherical and very few are small); 3, To determine effects of biomass type (switc hgrass, poplar wood, corn stover, etc.). In my research, I focus on the mass loss of the particle, the temperature for surface and center and the composition of the pyrolysis gases products. Besides, I am to Fit data to reaction rate expressions from Power Law Model and determine mechanisms from alternative expressions; additionally measure Internal Surface Area and Pore Volume by BET.
