ABET, Inc. is the governing agency responsible for monitoring, evaluating, and certifying the quality of applied science, computing, engineering, and technology education. The BYU Chemical Engineering program is currently accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission of ABET, https://www.abet.org/.
The Department Mission is achieved through Program Educational Objectives and Student Outcomes.
The Department Mission aligns with the College Mission, the latter of which can be found here.
Program Education Objectives (PEOs) are broad statements that describe what graduates are expected to attain within a few years after graduation. PEOs are reviewed annually with pertinant constituencies to ensure currency.
Student Outcomes (SOs) describe what students are expected to know and be able to do by the time of graduation. SOs are assessed throughout the curriculum, and the data subsequently evaluated, to provide feedback to the Chemical Engineering program. This feedback is used for continuous program improvement.
